Together, they help capture maximum detail and image quality while reproducing rich tonal gradations and natural colour, such as human skin.
Incredibly fast continuous shooting
Thanks to the α9 II’s incredible speed, continuous shooting is possible at up to 20fps with the electronic shutter and 10fps with the mechanical shutter, to capture fast-moving subjects with either shutter mode, and even at its highest speed, the flash can be synchronised with the mechanical shutter.
AF/AE calculations up to 60 times/sec.
AF/AE is calculated up to 60 times per second and is virtually uninterrupted, both while composing the image and even upon releasing the shutter. Continuous AF/AE—operated on the image sensor—locks onto and tracks erratically moving subjects with high speed, precision, and reliability. Additionally, AWB Lock capability, makes it possible to lock/unlock auto white balance operation at any time, which is useful in mixed lighting situations where natural and man-made light sources coexist. (1) AF/AE calculations (2) 60 times/sec (3) 20 frames/sec
Blackout-free Shooting with Quad-VGA OLED Tru-FinderTM
In continuous shooting, the electronic shutter system banishes blackout interruption typical of optical viewfinders, and the high-speed image sensor eliminates distracting EVF display lag. A high 120fps refresh rate minimises display blurring of moving subjects, and, the Quad-VGA OLED Tru-Finder with approx. 3.68 million-dot high resolution, employs ZEISS® T* Coating to reduce reflections, and a dirt-repelling fluorine coating on the outer lens to enhance usability on location. (A) Blackout-free Shooting (B) Shooting with blackouts
High-speed 1/32000 sec. Anti-distortion shutter
A result of Sony’s image sensor innovation, this shutter achieves speeds up to 1/32000 sec., beyond the limits of mechanical systems. Additionally, the high curtain speed of the electronic shutter suppresses rolling shutter effect to excellently capture moving subjects during sports and other fast-moving activities.
Silent shooting
Explore the advantages of high-speed silent shooting with a shutter that is fully digital—without a physical mechanism. The electronic shutter allows silent shooting without mechanical mirror and shutter noise. It's ideal for sports and subjects that demand quiet operation, greatly expanding camera versatility.
Anti-flicker shooting
Flicker from fluorescent and other artificial lighting is automatically detected and shutter action is timed to minimise the effect of flicker on still images. This suppresses exposure and colour anomalies at the top and bottom of images shot at high shutter speeds, as well as exposure and colour inconsistency between continuous shots, so you can take images indoors with more confidence. (1) Anti-flicker ON (2) Anti-flicker OFF
4D FOCUS: from AF wide coverage, speed, and tracking stability
4D FOCUS means highly accurate subject detection, reliable rapid autofocusing, and continuous tracking of subjects in motion, based on uninterrupted AF and an optimised AF algorithm as well as the approximately 93% AF coverage from 693 focal-plane phase-detection AF points that track random subject motion even during shutter release.
Real-time Tracking
The Real-time Tracking technology uses AI to detect moving subjects from the wealth of information captured by the image sensor. Spatial data consisting of colour, pattern (brightness) and distance information are processed in parallel at high speed, and human and animal face and eye location data are detected continuously in real time using AI, realising high-accuracy with automatic detection and tracking performance for moving subjects.
Real-time Eye AF for humans and animals
Real-time Eye AF relies on advanced AI to continuously analyse and detect eyes from the image sensor’s copious data, with left or right eye preference possible with a simple toggle. By half-pressing the shutter button, even animal eyes are detected. Team it up with Real-time Tracking for superior tracking performance of live subjects.
Precision AF effective down to EV-3 brightness
Low-light AF detection extends to EV-3 at ISO 100. The ‘Focus Priority in Aperture Drive’ option enables more accurate focusing in dim lighting and when the aperture is stopped down with the result that the precision AF system will function properly even when shooting dimly lit scenes. This opens up new possibilities in low-light and night shooting.
AF/AE-tracking continuous shooting with A-mount lenses
The body’s 693-point focal-plane phase-detection AF provides wide-area coverage, fast response, and high tracking performance, not only for E-mount but also for A-mount lenses with use of a mount adaptor (LA-EA3). Continuous shooting of up to 10fps with AF tracking is possible.
User selectable focus area circulation and customisation
A new setting allows the focus area to be rotated through the upper, lower, left, and right edges of the frame to select an appropriate focus area for sports or other situations where the subject frequently moves through the frame. AF area and ISO display limiting makes it possible to display only the most frequently used focus area and ISO settings for quicker, easier selection for faster, more efficient shooting.
Body-integrated 5-axis optical image stabilisation
The body-integrated image stabilisation system is fine-tuned to compensate accurately for 5-axis camera shake that can compromise handheld shooting. This gives you extremely high performance in both stills and movies, whether shooting at longer focal lengths, in close-ups, or at night. It is equivalent to using a 5.5-step faster shutter speed, allowing stable determination of composition when capturing subjects in high-speed motion. Real-time effects can be monitored via live view. (1) Yaw (2) Pitch (3) Roll
Shutter durability and image shake suppression
The shutter has been tested for durability in excess of 500,000 shutter-release cycles and incorporates an internal damper structure to absorb the impact of shutter motion for minimum shutter vibration and noise, helping to realise more sharply resolved imaging, as well.
Reliable durability and weather resistance in tough situations
The α9 II brings you further enhanced body durability, with full use of lightweight, high-rigidity magnesium alloy for covers and internal frame, keeping the camera highly rigid and light. In response to pro opinions, enhanced sealing is applied to the battery cover, terminal cover and all joints in the chassis. A double-sealed sliding mechanism replaces the hinge to the media compartment lid for better moisture resistance. Routes to dust and moisture entry have been re-examined, and a cushion around the lens mount has been added to ensure reliable operation in challenging environments.
Dual media slots, both supporting UHS-II
The α9 II provides two media slots for SD cards, both SLOT 1 and SLOT 2 are now compatible with UHS-I and UHS-II for fast mass-volume data writing. Two cards in the slots can be used to simultaneously record or relay record data, separate RAW data from JPEG data, or stills from movies, and copy data from one card to the other. A slide lock structure prevents the memory card cover from being opened unintentionally.
Professional-level operating stamina
The α9 II employs the large-capacity NP-FZ100 battery and a highly energy-efficient circuit design to double operation longevity to professional session lengths. The robust VG-C4EM vertical-position grip is available for greater operability and even longer hours of shooting. In addition to other optional accessories, USB Type-C™ and Multi/Micro USB ports allow external mobile batteries to power the camera for further extended recording.
Redesigned controls for confident and comfortable operation
A refined multi-selector, with a new surface texture for enhanced button response, lets you shift point of focus quickly and intuitively. With a thought for pro users, an improved grip shape reduces fatigue, and there is a new Exposure Compensation Dial Lock Button to increase operational security. In addition, the location and the AF-ON and other key buttons have been analysed for better feel and response. These improvements enhance your concentration on shutter release to "capture the moment" instantly.
Faster FTP transfer
You can directly transfer images to an FTP server with significantly higher speed via the camera's LAN terminal that supports the Ethernet 1000BASE-T standard. It is also possible to upload images to an FTP server through an available wireless access point, and the camera supports either transfer mode in the background while shooting. Up to nine servers may be pre-registered for fast menu selection.
Add voice memo to your images
The α9 II brings higher efficiency to work delivery tasks with a new Voice Memo function that allows you to record up to 60-sec audio files (.wav) describing shooting conditions or image content with automatic transcription into text, which is then attached to images.
Extending operability with Remote Camera Tool
The camera is compatible with updated Remote Camera Tool application, which, after pairing to assure a secure connection, handles remote single or multi-camera shooting using wired LAN connection in venues like sports stadiums. The α6700 combines the latest AI technology with Sony's outstanding α-series image quality in a compact APS-C camera body. Offering enhanced subject recognition, the latest technology for capturing stills and movies, and E-mount lens compatibility, the lightweight α6700 is designed for creative adventures, anytime, anywhere.
α6700 Photo Gallery
Click here explore Sample imagesA window for your world
APS-C format Exmor R™ back-illuminated CMOS sensor
The advanced Exmor R CMOS image sensor with 26.0 effective megapixels is packed with Sony's image sensor technologies. It offers extraordinary sensitivity, resolution and dynamic range, thanks to its back-illuminated format, gapless on-chip lenses, and AR coating (anti-reflection seal glass).
BIONZ XR™ processing power for exceptional image quality
With up to eight times more processing power than previous versions, the latest BIONZ XR image processing engine delivers natural gradations and realistic colours with low noise for stills and movies.
Wide dynamic range for diverse shooting scenarios
The α6700's standard sensitivity ranges from a low ISO 100 to ISO 32000, and offers a wide dynamic range so that natural gradations can be captured in high-contrast scenes without blown highlights or blocked shadows.
Consistently accurate exposure and colour
The α6700 offers impressive exposure control. It's equipped with a new AE algorithm, initially developed for full-frame models, which enables it to accurately detect the skin area of faces and adjust exposure accordingly when shooting stills and movies. It can also maintain realistic colours under a wide range of light sources, from sunlight through to theatre and stadium lighting, and produce more natural skin tones, sky and foliage colours.
Choose your Creative Look
The Creative Look setting offers greater creative flexibility with added simplicity. It provides 10 presets that can be used just as they are or customised via 8 adjustable parameters to suit the subject or scene, whether you’re shooting stills, movies or live-streaming. You can easily set the mood ahead of shooting so your images are ready to share immediately.
5-axis optical image stabilisation
Shoot hand-held or in low-light with confidence — the 5-axis in-body optical image stabilisation system is supported by precision gyro sensors to deliver up to 5-steps of shake compensation. It detects and compensates for various types of camera shake, including angular (pitch/yaw) shake that is more apparent at longer focal lengths, or when shooting with slower shutter speeds.
[1] Yaw [2] Roll [3] PitchPrecise compensation at the single-pixel level
Through enhanced design and control of key parameters, the α6700 provides precise detection and control right down to the single-pixel level, taking full advantage of the sensor's 26.0 megapixel resolution to produce images that capture all the finer details.
Selectable RAW file types and quality
In addition to compressed RAW capture, the α6700 supports lossless compressed RAW capture that provides efficient compression, allowing a greater number of high-quality images to be shot in continuous bursts. A new Light image quality selection that generates less data is provided for JPEG and HEIF images.
HEIF: High compression with excellent image quality
For the first time in an APS-C camera, the α6700 includes the HEIF (High Efficiency Image File) format with smooth 10-bit gradations for more realistic reproduction of skies and portrait skin tones. The HEIF format also uses advanced compression technology to maintain image quality while significantly reducing file size and saving storage space.
Evolving with AI
Innovative AI processing
The α6700 is equipped with an innovative AI processing unit that greatly enhances its performance, including more accurate recognition for a wider range of subjects.
Human pose estimation
The α6700 uses subject form data to recognise movement, achieving greatly improved human eye recognition. It also employs learned human forms and postures to precisely recognise body and head positions, making it possible to lock onto and track a subject facing away from the camera, or with their face partly obscured by a helmet or sunglasses.
Wider subject recognition
In addition to humans and animals, the α6700 now recognises birds, insects, cars, trains and airplanes, providing even greater flexibility and reliability when shooting both stills and movies. Heads and bodies are recognised in addition to eyes (Real-time Eye AF) for the Human and Animal settings, and now for the Bird setting too, with animal recognition performance more than 40% higher compared to the α6600.
Smarter Real-time Tracking
The upgraded and more reliable AI-based Real-time Tracking makes shooting in a wider range of situations simpler, leaving you free to concentrate on framing and composition. The α6700 can even track people wearing helmets or animals facing away from the camera.
Faster, more precise wide-area AF
The immense processing power and updated algorithms of the new BIONZ XR engine achieve notably improved AF performance, with up to 759 phase detection points, covering approximately 93% of the image area when shooting stills.
Accurate AF in low EV -3.0 light
The latest AF algorithms achieve high AF precision at light levels as low as EV -3.0 in AF-S mode (ISO 100 equivalent, F2.0 lens). The Focus Priority mode also provides more reliable AF in low light or when using smaller apertures.
Shoot more than 1000 images at 11 fps
The α6700's powerful BIONZ XR processing engine combines with a large buffer memory to boost write speeds to memory cards, so that the camera can shoot more than 1000 JPEG images, up to 59 compressed RAW images, or up to 23 lossless compressed RAW images in continuous high-speed bursts.
Full-time DMF
When shooting stills with AF-C or AF-S autofocus, the lens's focus ring can be rotated to instantly switch to manual focus mode at any time. This makes it easy to switch focus to a different subject on the fly.
Focus bracketing to capture the best shot
The α6700 can automatically shoot up to 299 images with sequentially shifted focus points according to intervals and a sequence specified by you. Pick the perfect shot, or post-process multiple shots to achieve creative composites with incredible depth of focus.
Flicker suppression
Suppress flicker from artificial lighting whether you're shooting stills or movies. Simply select "Anti-flicker Shoot", or use "Var. Shutter" to fine-tune shutter speeds to match flicker rates when filming.
Movie performance inherited from the Cinema Line
4K movie recording for stunning quality
The α6700 captures 4K (QFHD: 3840 x 2160) at up to 60p (50p) using Sony's proprietary 6K oversampling technology. By compressing this expanded detail into the output, it achieves 4K video quality with outstanding definition, even at higher frame rates. The camera also supports high-quality XAVC S-I (All-Intra) and XAVC HS formats with 10-bit 4:2:2 colour sampling.
High frame rate 4K 120p (100p) recording
High frame rate recording at up to 120p for 4K QFHD (3840 x 2160) output makes it possible to capture high-resolution movies in-camera. This expands creative possibilities in post-production by allowing subject motion to be emphasised or transformed into smooth slow motion. S&Q mode also enables recording of slow or quick motion sequences in camera from the outset.
Expressive S-Cinetone™
Incorporating the same colour science as the highly regarded CineAlta and Cinema Line, the α6700 includes Sony's S-Cinetone picture profile as a preset, delivering images with more faithful colour reproduction and natural skin tones.
S-Log3 gamma curve with 14+ stops of latitude
The S-Log3 gamma curve emphasises gradation characteristics from shadows to mid-grey (18% grey), achieving up to 14+ stops of latitude for flexible and creative colour editing.
Real-time Tracking for movies
AI-based Real-time Tracking provides a dramatic improvement in Real-time Tracking performance, automatically recognising, tracking, and focusing on the eyes of a specified subject. In addition to using the Touch Tracking function to initiate tracking, a custom button can be used to temporarily track a selected subject regardless of the subject's position in the frame and the focus area setting.
Active Mode for enhanced movie image stabilisation
Active Mode provides powerful image stabilisation for handheld movie shooting. The α6700 can accurately measure camera shake which is then precisely compensated for optically, providing highly effective stabilisation without sacrificing mobility, even when shooting 4K.
Breathing compensation for consistent angle of view
When shooting movies with compatible lenses, automatic breathing compensation uses Clear Image Zoom technology to maintain a consistent angle of view, suppressing changes that may occur due to shifts in focus position. Breathing metadata can also be used in post-production.
Import user LUT files
See how your footage will look in post-processing while you're shooting. The α6700 allows you to import a custom LUT (Look Up Table) that can be applied to the camera's monitor image while recording, providing a preview.
Movie making made simple
The α6700 is jampacked with features to support movie shooting and production. Its Auto Framing function automatically crops and re-frames the image while using AI to track the subject. Or, for a cinematic touch, the in-camera time-lapse function allows you to create time-lapse videos within the camera itself.
Outstanding control and reliability
Made for your handsWith its compact shape, and lightweight 493 gram body, the α6700 offers remarkable portability and manoeuvrability without compromising image quality. A new grip design provides a solid, even more comfortable hold on the camera, while giving greater control for shooting both stills and movies.
High-performance electronic viewfinder
A 2.36 million-dot (approx.) XGA OLED electronic viewfinder with approximately 1.07x magnification delivers an exceptional view of your world. With twice the brightness of the α6600, and a wider 33-degree viewing angle, it offers clear, easy viewing while shooting. The finder frame rate can be set to 120 fps — twice the normal rate — for a smooth viewfinder image, with minimum display motion blur when tracking and shooting moving subjects.
Enhanced shooting flexibility with vari-angle monitor
The α6700 features a large 3.0-type 1.03 million-dot (approx.) touch-panel LCD monitor with a 3:2 aspect ratio and side-opening vari-angle flexibility. This allows greater positioning and framing freedom, giving you plenty of creative options for handheld and gimbal-mounted shooting of stills and movies
Intuitive touch control
Just touch the screen to activate key functions, such as selecting a focus point or subject to track, or triggering the shutter. Swiping in from the left or right edge of the shooting display reveals touch icons that allow quick changes to the shooting mode and other settings. The function (Fn) menu can also be displayed by a simple swipe-up. During playback, you can easily select and zoom into images through taps and intuitive pinch-out/pinch-in gestures.
Improved menu structure
Responding to feedback from professional photographers and videographers, the α6700 comes with a new Main Menu structure similar to the latest full-frame α series models. The logical layout provides more efficient access to important shooting parameters, such as frame rate, shutter speed, and more. It can be assigned to a custom key for quick access when needed, and touch operation means that adjusting key settings has never been faster.

Features
Full-frame stacked CMOS sensor with integral memory
α9 II is the mirrorless camera that delivers next-generation high-speed performance far exceeding SLRs. It’s equipped with the outstanding 35 mm stacked CMOS image sensor with integral memory for impressively fast overall readout speed. This 24.2 MP image sensor achieves high sensitivity of up to ISO 204800 (extended) with the design of back-illuminated structure.
High-speed BIONZ X image processing engine
The camera's image-processing algorithms represent the latest generation of advancements, allowing higher levels of natural tonal gradations and more stable AWB for continuous shooting.
Uncompromised image quality
The combination of a 24.2 effective megapixel integral-memory full-frame stacked CMOS image sensor and the latest-generation BIONZ X make possible high-sensitivity performance up to ISO 51200, high dynamic range, and support for 14-bit RAW output and 16-bit image processing.
Remote switching of the camera’s FTP server settings is also possible, as well as remote control of the saving and loading of settings to/from an SD memory card.
Support for faster data transfer; 5GHz Wi-Fi® and USB 3.2 Gen 1
Connectivity has been improved, with new support for the IEEE 802.11ac 5GHz band Wi-Fi® when the camera is connected in wireless mode, along with the camera's USB Type-CTM terminal that supports USB 3.2 Gen 1.
High-resolution 4K movie recording
The camera is capable of 4K movie recording with full-pixel readout without pixel binning. You can enjoy detail-rich, full-frame movies via the oversampling effect achieved by condensing approximately 2.4 times the amount of data required for 4K (6K equivalent) for 4K output (QFHD: 3840 x 2160). Additionally, the XAVC-S format is supported at bit rates as high as 100 Mbps.
AF improvements for movie shooting
When shooting 4K movies, the camera provides control of high speed, precision, and tracking performance, via adjustable tracking sensitivity, for smooth, stable AF movie shooting. More pronounced slow focus effects are now possible, and Real-time Eye AF is now also applicable when shooting movies, detecting and tracking eyes with high focus accuracy, which is critical when shooting 4K.
Versatile movie recording functions
The α9 II provides a wide array of functions to facilitate movie shooting workflows, including interval recording, clean HDMI output, time code/user bits (TC/UB), REC Control, marker display/setting, zebra function, Slow and Quick Motion, simultaneous proxy movie recording, and extraction and separate storage of a still from a movie, among others. A combination with the ECM-B1M Shotgun Microphone or XLR-K3M XLR Adaptor Kit, via the new digital audio interface, enables clear sound recording with minimised quality deterioration by sending a digital audio signal to the camera.
Improvement of camera settings saving function
Now, a dramatically increased number of camera settings can be stored in the memory card, and saved settings can be read by other cameras of the same model. Moreover, up to 10 sets of camera settings can be stored in a memory card, thanks to the Save/Load Setting function. Camera setups can also be imported to the Imaging Edge Mobile application while imported setups can be exported to other cameras of the same model.
Customisability for maximised efficiency
Thanks to My Dial, three sets of menu options can be assigned through the front/rear dials and the control wheel. By assigning frequently used functions to these dials, they become instantly available for fingertip control while a custom button is held. Function sets can be assigned individually for stills and movies.
Rating function and Image Jump Setting
Ratings from 1 to 5 stars can be applied to still images and maintained as the images are imported into the Imaging EdgeTM desktop application (Viewer) running on a PC. This function and a protect function to prevent accidental image deletion can each be assigned to a custom button (C3 by default for protect). Ratings and protection can be applied via review playback display and continuous groups can be reviewed, protected, and deleted while you’re on location or travelling. With the Image Jump Setting, you can now also review large photo collections in 10 or 100 frame jumps, and group-review continuous burst shots for swift, efficient image evaluation.
Capture One (for Sony)
